DETAIL ABOUT THE TOURS

 

A drive  to Rossio, the very heart of Lisbon. Alfama, the oldest and most picturesque quarter (stop for a wine tasting in a handicraft store). Then a drive along the River-Side to admire Black Horse Square, crossing the Bridge over Tagus river,  with stops at Belém Tower and at the Monument to the Discoveries. Next is Jerónimos Monastery (guided tour of the church, one of the most beautiful in Europe) and the Coach Museum (the world's largest collection of coaches) (both closed on Mondays, replaced by Ajuda Palace or Fundação Medeiros). 

 

Mini cruise on Tagus river - half day - drop off not included - € 31,00        

A mini-cruise is a real must in order to enjoy Lisbon - a city overlooking the river and the ocean. Centuries of history will emerge from its monuments scattered along the river as well as the Castles on the hills. 

Enjoy a panoramic view of Parque das Nações where the Expo 98 was held with all it's modern architecture.                                 

 

Sintra, Pena, roca, Cascais, Estoril - full day with lunch –  € 81,00        

Visit the majestic and romantic Pena Palace*. Pena palace is on one of the highest peaks of the mountain range. It has a mixture of styles in Romantic art. We visit Sintra where we stop for lunch (included). Free time to walk around the streets of the medieval village to appreciate the several antiques and handicraft shops, restaurants and tea-rooms, to taste the so well delicious tarts known as queijadas. We leave to Colares, demarcated area of wine and famous for its table wines. Afterwards we go to Cabo da Roca, the most western point in continental Europe (stop). Then, passing by  Guincho beach, we drive along the coastline to Boca do Inferno (mouth of hell, a sea grotto) and Cascais where we stop for a nice view of the fishing port and Estoril coast. We drive through Estoril to have a panoramic view of the Casino and its gardens and we return to Lisbon.   

 

Pena, Sintra, roca, Cascais, Estoril - full day - € 72,00  

Pena Palace: The greatest example of romantic architecture in Portugal, built in the 19th century, at a high of 500 meters (1640 ft). Visit.

Sintra: Village’s historical centre, world heritage site by UNESCO since 1995. Free time to walk trough the medieval streets of the fairy tale’s village, and to taste the traditional sweets of the region. Free time for lunch.

Sintra National Palace: former hunting residence of the Portuguese royal family of the 15th century. Visit. (Closed on Wednesdays,  replaced by Regaleira Palace).

Cabo da Roca: Westernmost point in continental Europe. Stop. (From the 1st  March to the 31st October).

Cascais: Fishing harbor and tourist centre, former summer residence of the Portuguese royal family. Stop.

Estoril: View of the casino and its gardens. Return to Lisbon.

Pena palace: the most beautiful sample of Romantic architecture in Portugal at the top of Sintra mountain. Sintra mountain with an exotic vegetation. Roca cape: westernmost point of continental Europe (only from April to October). Cascais: fishing harbour and melting-pot, summer residence of Portuguese kings (stop). Estoril: view of the Casino and its gardens.                      

 

Travel northwards and arrive at the beautiful and very ancient walled town called Obidos with picturesque streets. Guided tour and free time to walk through the narrow streets and old castle in a unforgettable trip to the past.

Then drive to Alcobaca to visit the 12 th century Church of Alcobaca Monastery, the longest and in the most ancient Gothic Monastery in Portugal.

Lunch included in Nazare, a colourful fishing village, where one can mingle with fishermen, breed a strong maritime breeze and enjoy the atmosphere of one of the most typical villages in Portugal, famous also for its seaside resort. Proceed to Batalha Monastery for a guided visit of the church, a 14th century masterpiece in Gothic style.

Finally Fatima - the Centre of Christian faith and a local of world's pilgrimage. Religious services can be attended.                               

 

Fatima, Batalha, Nazare, Obidos - full day - € 72,00     

Fatima: Worldwide pilgrimage center where Our Lady appeared to 3 shepherds. Aljustrel: visit the houses of the 3 shepherds. 

Sanctuary of Fatima: visit the Basilica and Chapel of the Apparitions. Mass. Free time for lunch. Batalha: 14th century Monastery, masterpiece of Gothic style: visit the church. Nazaré: one of the most picturesque fishing villages. Obidos: ancient medieval town surrounded by walls of the castle: visit.

  

Visit the Sanctuary and the Basilica - where there are the tombstones of shepherds - and the Chapel of Apparitions, heart of the shrine. Time to attend mass. Aljustrel, tour of the houses where Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia were born. Valinhos, see the place where Our Lady of Fatima appeared for the 4th time in August 19th, 1917. Loca do Anjo, visit the place where the children, Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia, saw the apparition of the Angel for the first and third time.                                       

 

Along the rolling landscape of Alentejo, we pass by fields of Olive trees, cork trees and vineyards, to find the charming town of Évora, World Heritage of Unesco. By the richness of his history, 

architecture, gastronomy and handicraft, we are taken to a variety of times, styles, flavours, smells, colors and shapes. End the day with a wine taste at a Century wine cellar in Azeitão.
