In this world educational opportunities and resources are openly available for everybody. The inhabitants of this world are benefitting from open educational opportunities because they help them... 

In this world innovation is not an end in itself but is an element of a constant improvement process, and excellence is not in opposition to inclusion and benefits at all. Wealth creation is not opposed to inclusion and both are integral parts of prosperity. 

 

The journey to this world might take some time and parts of the path ahead are under construction and still unclear. We will need the best thinking and inputs, concepts and tools from all different perspectives to bring us there. The challenge is great but we have gathered renowned experts from different fields in this conference.

 

We are confident that we will quickly come up with a roadmap which shows clearly how to reach our desired destination. It is clear, we are under time pressure and have to move quickly to come up with a clear direction. The swamps of traditions are moving constantly and the shifting sands of indecisiveness endanger our mission through too long delays. 

 

Because of the urgency we will work in parallel and in different expert camps. Each expert will work from a different angle. Already before nightfall we will meet again to share our findings, because it is already clear that not one single camp can provide all the needed directions and tools for our route – the results of all experts have to be put together and worked out in a common approach. This we will do in the following day. We will reshuffle all expert camps into new guidance committees which will put the final touch to recommendations for policy, research and practice.
